Initial Proposals and Meeting Plan for 1 February

Don’t forget: Please post your initial site proposals by today (Wednesday 31 January) so that everyone will be able to read all the proposals before our meeting time on 1 February.

Remember that these are initial proposals only. At this point a proposal does not commit you to actually doing the project you outline. It is a working draft for discussion.

Before our Thursday meeting, be sure to read everyone else’s proposal. Think about what might work in that proposal and what might be tricky. Consider whether you have seen other sites that do what is suggested in that proposal.

During our meeting, each participant will briefly (about five minutes) present his or her proposal and we will discuss it as a group. The idea here is to offer constructive feedback, raise questions, and so on. During the presentations, consider which of the projects appeal to you most. It is a lot of work to actually set up a good website, and the more we can work in groups on our projects, the better for us all.

After every proposal has been discussed, we will take a break. During the break, take time to talk with people whose projects appeal to you and see whether you might collaborate. We will discuss this a bit more upon returning from break, and I hope we will begin to see some project teams forming.

In addition to this project planning work, I will introduce you to content management systems and the OpenSourceCMS site.

One Response to Initial Proposals and Meeting Plan for 1 February

    Project proposal.
As a kimep student, I am much interested in the publishing of kimep life articles. I don’t share an inspiration of kimep journalists to embrace the world-wide views on political, economic, cultural events. I will be able to know it from other sources. Actually, I am less aware of the events happened inside the institution. The website http://www.kimep.kz highlights vivid issues, but they are not sufficient to know more. The newspaper “KimepTimes” is not also available for every student due to its circulation number. I wish I would be able to hear from both present and former kimep students, especially graduates who face problems in terms of payment fee, as well when combining both work and study. I wish I would be able to find the relevant information on our own site, not looking in http://www.kompromat.kz.
